Edgewater Home
This house was originally designed for a lot right next to a lake, but it would work just as well on any site with a rear view. The handsome but modest appearance on the street side gives little indication of the stunning rear appearance and the open views.
The kitchen is open to the other living areas. A U shaped counter separates the kitchen from the dining area and a breakfast nook visually while providing for easy prep and service. And there's lots more counter and cabinet space on the opposite wall. There are two windows over the sinks, and the nook is surrounded by windows with transoms above them. A sliding door opens to the laundry room, which opens to the 2–car garage.
Edgewater Design
As you step into this house, your immediate view is to and through the open living and dining area. In the foyer space, there's a powder room and coat closet on your left, and stairs to both the upper and optional lower levels on your right. As you step into the living area, the ceiling pops up to a soaring 20', dropping to 11'6" at the rear wall of windows. There's a large fireplace with a raised stone hearth at the far end of the living room that can be enjoyed by those in either the dining area or the kitchen. The rear wall in this area is composed almost exclusively of glass, with two 5' wide picture windows flanking a pair of sliding glass doors with transom windows above them. The original homeowners chose multi pane windows throughout the house, but one could easily install single pane windows for a more open view.
The home has an unfinished walkout half basement below the dining room and kitchen area. With abundant windows, and a potential future bathroom specified, this would make a great media or recreation area. The crawlspace below the living room and master bedroom could potentially be converted into a basement as well.
